n 1992 just out of high school, Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology with Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999, after she began working on the ship F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner that was converted into the role of a salmon tender is owned by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard got married to Aritan in 1999 and the two have joined to defend their businesses. They believe in conservative, sustainable management of renewable seafood resources. In 2007, the mother of two young children Bella age three as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia, opened a direct wholesale distribution of seafood known as Otolith. Her husband and she are separated by 5 months and more for her to concentrate on her goals in terms of finances and the environment. Bossard, her son Andre and daughter Isabella are scheduled to return to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the wild salmon harvest. In the course of two months, Bossard, along with her daughter Isabella will use hooks and lines to catch their desired salmon. Aritan will then sell their fish to local processors.
